Dear Cameroonians and Well-WishersI want to wish you a very happy Thanksgiving celebration. All praise and thanks to God for all the good things ,which have happened in our lives. Most importantly, we must be thankful for the political freedoms we have inherited from other nations and be inspired to free ourselves from the chains of ignorance and intolerance by the CPDM system in Cameroon.I was wondering if everyone really took notice of the speech of President Obama to Ghana Parliament on the 11th of July, 2009. Make no mistake that I was inspired and propelled to more action by his speech after May, 29th,2009 when I initially blew the Whistle against the CPDM system. It was a policy speech, which finally came at the right time in history. Now, I give you the chance to explore it with me again. The immediate implication of this speech on our effort is in part expressed in the 32 Councils proposed as the building blocks for a Transitional Government for CameroonYes, We Can: President Obama’s vision and promise for AfricaExcerpt from President Barack Obama’s Policy Speech on US-Africa Relations in the 21st Century“Make no mistake: history is on the side of these brave Africans … Africa doesn't need strongmen, it needs strong institutions. America will not seek to impose any system of government on any other nation — the essential truth of democracy is that each nation determines its own destiny. What we will do is increase assistance for responsible individuals and institutions, with a focus on supporting good governance — on parliaments, which check abuses of power and ensure that opposition voices are heard; on the rule of law, which ensures the equal administration of justice; on civic participation, so that young people get involved; and on concrete solutions to corruption like forensic accounting, automating services, strengthening hot lines and protecting whistle-blowers to advance transparency and accountability”President Barack Obama, Ghana Parliament on the 11th of July 2009Let me explain to you how the transitional government may function. There shall be interim councils to oversea the transition. It is also a period during, which we shall be learning and growing together until we reach that place where we are certain that the check and balances of power are functioning. Each Council will be made of members and experts under the leadership of a chairperson. The Council shall advise the transitional government through consultation and briefing at all fronts in the light of the vision for the country. In this wise, I will suggest the following Councils with broad provisions to cover all sectors towards good governance. These Councils will report to the transitional government. We will appoint Chairpersons to these councils based on a number of factors; Education, Knowledge, character, experience, expertise and regional representation. It will be up to the Chairpersons to then recruit members of their council based on an acceptable code of conduct. They could be at least to 10 members. However, the Councils will then develop Committees within the Cities and communities to report to them. This kind of decentralize system will give every Cameroon the opportunity to participate in nation building and will eventually strengthen grassroots democracy. The Constitutional and Government CouncilThe Judicial Branch CouncilThe legislative Branch CouncilThe Executive Branch CouncilThe Territorial Administration CouncilThe Good Governance and Transparency CouncilThe Independent and Non-partisan Election CouncilThe Military and Armed Forces CouncilThe law and Enforcement (Police) CouncilThe Media and Press Council on press FreedomThe Post and TeleCommunication CouncilThe Domestic Policy Council: Homeland Security, Immigration, Federal Office of Investigation and Central Intelligence Agency etcThe Foreign Policy and Foreign Relations CouncilThe Economic and Financial CouncilThe Agriculture CouncilThe Environmental Council for Clean Water,Air and CitiesThe Labor and Public Service CouncilThe Public Safety and Transportation Council by land Air or WaterThe Primary and Secondary Education CouncilThe Higher Education and Foreign Studies, Fellowship and Scholarship CouncilThe Scientific Research and Laboratory Services CouncilThe Technology Development CouncilThe Engineering Council (road construction and development)The Urban Cities CouncilThe Suburban and Rural Cities CouncilThe Housing and Town Planning CouncilThe Social Welfare and social Justice CouncilThe Parks and Recreation CouncilThe Health Care and Human Services CouncilThe Sustainable Development and Empowerment CouncilThe Social and Cultural CouncilThe Gender Equality and Youthful idealism CouncilNB: At this juncture, my humble request is for Cameroonians from all walks of life to explore these Councils and help us to identify the citizens who shall be willing participants in nation building. Make no Mistake; History is on the side of you brave Cameroonians who have ceased from being complainers and now to become nation builders.I thank you for reading. Pass it onJonathan Awasom
