A rebuttal to Dr Richard Munang on" GREEN wins RIO recipe for sustainable development in Cameroon and Africa" the complete article of Dr Richard Munang is available for your review at the end of this rebuttal at on www.chiareport.com

Dear Dr  Richard Munang

Sincere greetings. I am going to read and appreciate your work on Green Economy , the ecosystems and sustainable development for a very long time from now until we implement your vision in Cameroon. I find it quite  thought -provoking and educative too. So, I am only attempting to explore with you as well as enter into a dialogue with you  as a fellow African who has another approach to this matter with the hope that you'll also appreciate my take and explore common grounds for us to work together to build a Green Economy and sustainable development ecosystems in Cameroon, my country.

To you , Mr Chia Innocent, I thank you for this Green Wins Rio Report by the learned Dr Richard Munang  as a recipe blue print  for  economic sustainable development in Cameroon and Africa.

I have consistently been very intrigued by wonderful scientific researches like this one from fellow Cameroonians and Africans but while I celebrate and  applaud them, I am always tempted to consider the missing pieces with respect to gross abuse of human and civil rights of both man and animal. Every government must be very  prepared and ready to embrace the extra-ordinary task of tapping into the eco-system as a means to promote human dignity and development .This means , such a government must have the capacity and  good conscience to realize that her citizens and people dseserve a clean environment free from pollution, carbage, disaster and all other poor sanitation before that government can rise up to the  level of considering the solar system as a vital component of any future on Green Economy. We must always condemn the abuse of the environment and the habitats of the environment( eco-systems) and link these atrocities to any effort to develop a green economy as well boslter the quest for sustainable development initiatives. These abuses and atrocities are obstacles to achieving such a noble vision and we must address these obstacles if we are bound to succeed and survive the ecosystems.

Sometimes I wonder what a corrupt tyranny and dictatorship like the CPDM regime of Cameroon can do about this kind of extremely ambitious Green Economic plan ,which requires hard work and  an adventurist spirit to explore into the unknown! We, have a very lazy and corrupt government and people who shop overseas, import drinking  water and health care treatment from overseas and fly in private jets into their private mansions in the same Cameroon whereaas the roads are bad and there is no good drinking water!

This is a very thought provoking article and I just wanted to pour my heart into it because I have worked with two different environmental organizations in Minnesota known as " Environment Minnesota and Clean Water Action! After working with these organizations I came to the deep realization of how important a clean and healthy environment is to our well-being but most importantly how the whole GREEN concept is yet an unreached economic mine field that could contribute enormously to the job creation and the sustainable development of the people. We talk about political freedom, social justice, human and civil rights but increasingly we now know that environment justice is  also here for the promotion of the common good.

The truth is the future we want must also  hinge on the freedom that we have, the freedom to enjoy the environment as well as the prudence and security to be able to effectively manage and protect the ecosystems so that they are sustained and productive to us the way they were set up to function. Can we predict natural disasters and prevent them? Can we collect rain water and store it for agriculture? Can we tap into the solar system etc .Without a virtuous and free society where we are guaranteed transparency and accountability through the most celebrated three arms of government ensuring that  at no point  must any  humankind consider themselves above the rule of law, it will almost be sheer waste of time to even discuss how useful the GREEN ECONOMY is to humankind  as a  tool for economic sustainability and development.

We  have a lazy corrupt government that sees the environment only through a very narrow lens of natural resources like oil etc, which gives them quick cash like drugs does to drug cartels . This is because once they have this quick cash they rush into building some of the most expensive homes ever by importing all the material for construction from societies that have developed their own Green economy. In fact, we have to begin to see that our environment has a lot of potential and that it is possible to exploit it in the way that we are entitled to as dominion over it so long as we encourage and empower experts like Dr Richard Munang to show us how to go about this.

It  should be noteworthy that since the creation of the universe, God the creator placed man and woman , and to be fair genderly, that we are dominion over all creation. Therefore, humankind is more than just an integral part of the eco-system. We reflect and represent God 's image, love and beauty of creation composed of the environment that envelops us, the eco-system that characterizes our safe habitat and quite tantalizing is the fact that we are caught in the middle! That is to say, there are creatures of the sea and the sky above us and yet we are given the divine dominion over all that is described and befits the definition of eco-system!
The author, Dr Richard Munang  definitely has a very profound  knowledge on the meaning and importance of the Green movement as a de facto  that has  the capacity to revolutionalize  our way of life in Cameroon and Africa. His take is quite amazing and begins by first of all laying  the groundwork to changing our way of thinking and mind set so that we can all gravitate towards his vision in collaboration with Rio.It is such an amazing and ambitious plans that requires  a government that  is free from corruption and mediocrity to implement the vision of Dr Richard Munang.I was intrigued by his insightful remarks as well as his observation that

"Since 1992, increasing stress on our ecosystem and global crisis have shown that old fashions views about development are bi-products of market failures that devalue ecosystems and disenfranchise low-income social groups..." Dr Richard Munang

And to this I wanted to make sure that Dr Richard Munangs understands that old fashion governments  that devalue human and civil rights of people , abuse and exploit people as well as oppress people in their own society full of promise and hope in the abundance of the environment and all that it contains impedes the effort to advance social justice and promote sustainable development initiatives among the marginalized and poor population. While I applaud and welcome the vision of Dr Richard Munang and his Rio, I am also appealing for a virtuous and free governments in Africa with the political will and good  conscience to make this vision come to fruition.

Oncemore, kudos to Dr Richard Munang and we look forward to the Green Economy and sustainable development in Cameroon in no distant future and I pray that he becomes a  partner and team player with us to  unlock the door to Green Economy and sustainable development and promotion of human dignity.

A  New Pragmatic Approach to achieving Sustainability in Cameroon and elsewhere in Africa
By Richard Munang (PhD) for www.chiareport.com
On June 20-22 global leaders gathered in Rio de Janeiro for the Rio+20 United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development to discuss the future of our planet, society and environment. The outcome document entitled The Future We Want(TFWW), represents an important shift in the global approach to development.  At Rio+20, governments and businesses, for the first time, explicitly recognized that natural capital is the core element of sustainable development and identified “green economy in the context of sustainable development and eradication of poverty” as the approach that will strengthen our relationship with ecosystems and move us toward a more sustainable economic development path.Postcards-From-The-Future-Rio_20_20-RG-DMJ
This is an important change in mindset that moves the environment from a marginal issue to a central component of future development strategies, and centralizes the economy and business as key tools to build environmental value. It also marks a shift in the dominant perspective.
