Response from the genius

I don't know if  the Queen's language has a prefix component  to someone 's name as DEFROCKED AWASOM ?  You mean to say that  you don't know how to address someone properly in English ?

This must be a problem of your moral decadence and abuse of the virtue  and proper use of language . Since you are a primitive black Cameroonian-American man, your primitive and beastlike mentality has infiltrated the Queen's language since you were never properly trained on the importance of manners in public discourse. The Queen 's language and the Queen have taught us that we should be respectful when we agree to disagree with one another but you are always demonstrating to a lot of people that you are a protoype of a mean -spirited  primitive lost man from African wandering in the civilized America pretending to be a Professor of African history and yet have no idea about the history of  how the  Queen 's language came about to dominate the  socio-cultural and political landscape of Africa.

It is logical that if you wrote of the Queen's language, you should have also written about the Queen because the English woman is the substance and the Queen's language is the shadow !  The shadow is derived from the substance and life  has value and meaning when we focus on the substance. Absurdities and mediocrities reflect people who dwell on the shadows .

Your problem is that my level of consciousness is refined  and advanced to the extent, which your inferior and primitive level of reasoning as a result of your romance with absurdities and mediocrities has deprived  you of the truth.  In order for you to rise to the level of moral consciousness you 'll need to be educated about truth because you don't know what is called truth. Your mind is very twisted and corrupt.
The Queen 's  language refers to an English Woman!  That English woman must be the Queen per your comments. You cannot have it both ways !
You are involved in petty semantics in English and I am not sure you know what you are writing about

Why does a Professor like you call me names when you are indeed a parasite of the British and American heritage?

You still have a twisted mind ,which is why when you disagree with someone who is smart and intelligent than you, you  degenerate .

Mr. Agbor,
What kind of empowerment does a 20 or 21-year-old man want as a student?  You have to study how leaders are made through thorough grounding in the rudiments of leadership.  I am not referring to European examples.  Have you read anything about the West African "jihadists" (reformers) of the 19th century?  Do such names like Usman dan Fodio, Ahmadu Lobo, al-Hajj Umar, Samori Ture, etc., ring a bell?  It takes long years of study and learning to become a leader, usually between 15 and 30 years.  Two years in a university, without even a first degree, does not make a leader.  What happened with the now defunct UBSU at the University of Buea was truancy and vagabondage carried to the level or criminality.  A leader knows when to push, when to pause, and when to retreat.  The young ignorami of UBSU do not know what freedom entails because the ignorant can never be free.  Ignorance is a very debilitating state of bondange.  The first measure of true freedom is mental.
The defrocked Awasom demanded to know from me whether the Queen was a Cameroonian.  I wrote of the "Queen's Language"--English, and not about the Queen--English woman.  Why is Awasom not writing in his native Ngemba dialect?  Whichever language we choose to communicate in should be mastered by all.  If the Communication Office of a student organization cannot "communicate" effectively in the language of their choosing, what are we to make of those who occupy that office?  It appears that they preferred political activism, becoming leaders prematurely, to learning.

Dear Sea gol,
Where did Mr. Awasom go wrong? You are right that, "University is an educational center designed for learning, research, and intellectual advancement." But what is the purpose of education in the first place? Refer to Jonathan Awasom's post to fine the answer-No one can deny the role of empowerment in education for teachers and students alike. If you research more about the theories of empowerment and social change, you will conclude that the university has been a true place for empowerment.

The university is what empowers the Guru (Dr. Konde) to give himself the title in the first place; it is equally the empowerment factor that gives my brother Dr. Egbe the authority to pray for a hierarchical structure both at the university and state level. UNIVERSITY IS A CENTER FOR EMPOWERMENT. Dr, Awasom is right.

Jonathan,
Can you shut-up that your mouth, yes, you shut it up, before I use razor blade to advance it, nonsense: University is an educational center designed for learning, research, and intellectual advancement - and not an empowerment center - NGOs empower and not University. --- On Fri, 3/8/13, Jonathan Awasom <camerooncitizensforfreedom@yahoo.com> wrote:

The essence of the university is to empower students but if the university is being politicized by corrupt individuals under a corrupt regime , then the students must stand up and retain their rights as well as restore sanity to the University .
Student associations and Unions are part of the politics of every university and if that is being abused, it is very reasonable for these students to seek their rights. They are on track and we stand shoulder with them till justice is done
Besides, nobody is perfect in any particular language because the Queen's langauge is not an African or Cameroon language to begin with. The way they express themselves is good enough
You make their case valid when you refer to the language as Queen's language.
Don't they have their own language?
Is the Queen a Cameroonian?
Konde you have a slave mentality, which is why you lack understanding of what is at stake here !

I strongly decry and condemn the misuse and abuse of the Queen's Language by this defunct student union of the University of Buea--UBSU. It is now lear to all and sundry that the primary "duty" of students is learning and not political activism.

Global Conscience Network: African immigrants within the United States must be responsible and vigilant in protecting the Homeland : Email to Senator Robert Menendez, Congressman Chris Smith and Congressman Donald Payne Jr

Dear Senators Robert Menendez, Congressman Chris Smith and Congressman Donald Payne Jr

Sincere greetings to all of you .

I saw a suspicious package this morning and called the police . I want other African immigrants to become responsible and vigilant, too! If we are all vigilant and responsible, we can all detect and report suspicious activities and suspicious people in a timely fashion.

This morning I was walking to the Park to exercise and while on my way, I saw a black paper ,which appeared loaded with bottles and it was lying at the door steps of the Roman Catholic Church in our city. It appeared very suspicious and I was very concerned and decided that I would call the attention of the police by dialing 911. Behold, as I turned behind me, a police car was approaching and I patriotically stopped him and showed him the package! He took care of the situation while I walked away ! This is what I called police partnership with the civil society and this civic engagement is lacking among African immigrants through out the United States.

As immigrants on political asylum or DVD lottery and others, it is important that we play our own role towards ensuring that the homeland is secured and safe for everyone. If  all immigrants in this country are proactive in terms of being watchful( vigilant) and stepping up to the plate by helping the police, FBI and CIA we will have an active civil society vigilant force capable of easily detecting some of the bad guys amongst us who seem determined to hurt others.

New immigrants are quick to blame the Congress and Federal government for being tough on immigration  matters and often I am sick and tired of the complaints of these immigrants! We need to get these immigrants shift their thinking patterns ,which is only about better immigration policies for themselves but they also need  to focus on the civic engagement of immigrants. The lack of civic engagement amongst immigrants like being a vigilant force is mind boggling and this is something that we should address and I will be very open to be of any assistance in this area

Therefore, the Federal government and Congress need to raise awarness, educate and call upon  African immigrants to be vigilant and responsible in improving the homeland security of the United States . I am speaking from this standpoint as an African who has an astute insight into the nonchalance and negligent behavior of African immigrants when it comes to holding people accountable and also doing what is right! Some of them think that it is not their business to report ie see something and say something. This is largely due to lack of knowledge and proper upbringing in some of  their primitive and corrupt African societies where there is no rule of law.

While, We are very sorry for the violent activities of some of the twisted minds and wasted souls out there who planted a bomb to disrupt and sabotage the Boston Marathon, I thought it worthwhile to be very honest with my deepest sentiments about how we can move forward from here in terms of complimenting and completing the work that the police and other homeland security forces and officials are doing. The African immigrants are missing in action and we need to get them on board.

In this light,on behalf of the Global Conscience Network, I urge the United States Congress and the Federal government in alliance with the Department of Homeland Security to step up the effort in educating the new immigrant population  in this country to be more responsible especially these immigrant from African continent.

From my personal experience with African immigrants, about 95% of black people from Africa who are either legal or illegal in this country do not understand the concept of   citizen vigilance, which is the moral obligation to " see something and say something". Many of them tend to erroneously  think that they are not supposed to report any suspicious activities or any person who is involved in any activity with the intent to break the law! These African immigrants consider it a taboo to report their fellow Africans and even other citizens committing crimes because of the following reasons;

1) Some are afraid of retaliation and persecution from their  communities composed of twisted minds and wasted souls

2) Some  are ignorant and naive as they don't know the working mechanism between government and the citizens/civil society with regards to good governance and the rule of law

3) Some believe that it is evil, wicked and unkind to report people who commit crimes or who indulge into any suspicious activity that can hurt others. That is why many Cameroon-American immigrants are very frustrated with me.

Since 2005 when I was endowed by the great American spirit and soul I became very enlightened by more truths ,which has helped me to become a very responsible and vigilant citizen of the world. Quite apart from volunteering and helping to make a difference, I have also done what is right in the following ways;

a) I have called the police on  a man at Kinkos in Minnesota who walked into the store and picked a quarrel with his wife or girl! As I sat at the computer and noticed that he began to hit the lady so violently and I was alarmed and called the attention of the store manager. He then called the police and the man was arrested and charged

b) While living in Richfield Minnesota, the apartment complex had violated  one of the City Ordinances by living the main entrance doors ajar! As so happened, many drug traders invaded the building and put the security of many resident at risk. So, I called the attention of the City of Richfield to this and immediate action was taken. The drug traders left the building and the doors were replaced and secured.

c) Some people who got involved in human trafficking and money laundering were also reported taken up and behold some of  the traffickers stopped trading in people and  collecting money from families to transport them to the United States.

d) In 2009, I filed a complaint against the
CPDM regime and their surrogates here in the United Ststes because we have to stop corrupt foreigners from entering this country. It is important that the we do not take dictators out in the world for granted because some of them have agents in this country who are determined to hurt Americans and their good friends like us who are here to cherish, love and protect this great civilization

My Senator and Congressmen I urge you all to take these salient points seriously and if you'll like me to be of any assistance to pursue this conversation towards making sure that every person living off of the United States should learn how to give back by being vigilant, let me know!

Thank you for your interest and God will continue to bless the United States of America and may the victims at the Boston Marathon bombing know that we shall never bow to twisted minds and wasted souls. We are free people and this freedom is available to people who desire it and using fear and scare tactics against free people is counter-productive. America is always very compassionate and generous with their freedom.

Yours sincerely

Jonathan

The Advocacy: My email to US Senator Robert Menendez who is also Chairman of US Senate Foreign Relations Committee

         Dear Senator Robert  Menendez

Sincere greetings and congratulations on your new leadership role as Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee of the United States Congress and Government

My name is Jonathan Awasom. I am fighting for the freedom and democracy of my country , Cameroon. I am resident here in the USA as a political asylee and since 2005 I have been in this endless struggle. Please, kindly give me a listening ear and help me to free our people under the bondage of dictatorship and corrupt tyranny in Cameroon.

I have been in contact with your predecessor, the Hon Secretary of State John Kerry with regards to my concerns as a political asylee from Cameroon now resident here in the United States. Before Senator John Kerry moved to the State Department, I requested that I would like to testify before the Senate foreign relations Committee and Congress on the issues I have been wrestling with, with regards to Cameroon. So far the  committee met and discussions and testimonies were held on " ENTRENCHED LEADERSHIP IN AFRICA" with Cameroon as one of the case studies. Therefore, I am still seeking for an opportunity to come and testify since I was left out.

These concerns range from human rights, civil rights, corruption and the struggle for freedom and democracy. Dictator Paul Biya is not competent to organize any elections in Cameroon and we have condemned the fake  and fraudulent Presidential elections held in 2011 as well as the current fake and fraudulent Senatorial elections that are masterminded by the totalitarian regime.

As an advocate I have been very determined to raise awareness and also to cajole, convince and seek the partnership of the United States Congress and officials to assist me  with our vision to free Cameroon from dictator Paul Biya. That is why I am here in the US on political asylum and I urge you, sir to take up my case.

I have updated my concerns and will like to bring that to your attention . I will appreciate your interest in my efforts. We appreciate the interest of Senator John Kerry when he was chairman of the Senate foreign relations Committee and we are looking forward to working with all of you for a way forward for Cameroon and Africa

Thank you Senator and may God bless your leadership . We need you.

God Bless you and the United States

Subject: Civil and Human Rights Concerns in Cameroon: The Buea State University Crisis in Cameroon a growing concern to concern Cameroonians within the United States: It is about time for the United States officials to take a hard look at this problem

A concern about civil and human rights violation of Buea State University students in Cameroon by the CPDM regime of dictator Paul Biya. This concern is presented to the Congress of the United States and members of the Civil Society International and all Concern Citizens of the world with vested interest in Cameroon.

"On his part (,University of Buea Student Union, (UBSU ) acting President , Mr Ronald Minang, believed that the matter is a mere case of intimidation and called on all the students not to relent their efforts. Hear him: “I was kidnapped [and kept] for eight days, I did not write exams and I went through persecution and I shall die by the truth. Our strength is the students and I believe we should continue to stand by the truth.”“We wish to thank the students for their support. There is one thing I want you all to keep in mine, the race is not meant for the strong nor the swift, time has it all. We shall not back down as we shall fight and fight until lambs become lions. What we have been fighting for has not been given. Prison will not intimidate us, sentences shall not limit us. Our consciences and our clean hearts are what will make us stand firm,” Egbereke said.

The Buea State University of Cameroon has bled as a result of a Student Union Strike ,which began on February 6th ,2013.It has always been blown out of proportion by University authorities motivated by their selfish political ambitions at the expense of the common good of students and the entire university community! The World Educational Services ( WES) in New York which evaluates the academic Transcripts of International Students seeking  admission into United States Universities has rejected academic Transcripts from Buea University in Cameroon because of alleged fraudulent academic documents by University Professors and officials.

This is one of the main reasons why the Students are protesting in order to fix this situation and ensure that academic affairs of students are transparent and genuine.Unfortunately, the Vice Chancellor of the University who was appointed by dictator Paul Biya through a Presidential decree has been acting under the instruction of the government of Paul Biya ,which is unacceptable. If the University system is not independent and is being run by Presidential decrees, then anyone should understand why we are oppressed inside Cameroon and University Professors appear to be victims, too. What more of students?

The University crisis comes under the heels of a totalitarian political system that has no regards for civil and human rights of citizens regardless of their sacred and inalienable rights to free speech ! The case of University Students being cracked down through arbitrary arrest, torture and intimidation through the monstrous judicial system is yet another substantiation of the instrasigence of the regime and government of Dictator Paul Biya to democratic values and ideals. Yet, it is hypocritical that the CPDM regime and others are indulging into a facade of Senatorial elections in Cameroon as we speak. We have condemned in strong terms any elections in Cameroon organized by Mr Paul Biya and his government because we know that there are fraudulent, fake and bogus.

I am a concern Cameroon on political asylum within the United States because of the bad political system of oppression that persecuted and violated my civil and human rights because of my ideas and belief in the ideals of freedom and democracy( justice, human and civil rights, peace and free speech) .As an advocate for justice, peace and freedom with a consistent and clear vision for a way forward for Cameroon in the 21st century, the case of University Reforms involving the need to secure better services for students in order to enable a healthy and safe educational climate in every sense of it morally, mentally, physically and spiritual is very dear to our hearts !

I am concern because the case of these students point to the deep seated determination of the Cameroon authorities in connivance with the University authorities and jusicial authorities to violate the civil and human rights of these students just as they did to many of us who are now on asylum within the United States. We are calling upon the Congres sof the United States to enforce the NO SAFE HAVEN LAWS against foreign corrupt Cameroon Nationals as well investigate the corrupt practices of some asylum seekers and beneficiaries who are still ENABLERS of this CPDM monstrous regime against the rights of our people.

We, Cameroonians who are on exile within the United States of America, Canada and Europe as result of the bad CPDM regime will never compromise the future and destiny of our fellow Cameroonians. Inspired and embolen by the ideals and values of the charming American, Canadian, German , British and French systems of today, it is obvious that silence over any form of authority that abuses power, violate human and civil rights will be unacceptable and inhumane. That is why we are speaking out and calling for the immediate actions to stop the unlawful prosecution of the University of Buea Student Union( UBSU), their President and the other 11 students who are being taunted by the regime of dictator Paul Biya.

I know that they are some Cameroonian-American citizens of the world dying to support the regime in Cameroon who want to push these students into a begging mood as if they committed any crime ! No, that is a vicious manipulation and I knew exactly what their vicious tactics were, which is why we are insisting that the University Vice Chancellor must be aware of the moral high ground ! Minang and the students are being victimized by some ambitious backwards looking people who can't stand the ideals of our time

We wonder who conferred academic titles on such Cameroon-American professors and others living within the United States but lack the commonsense and reason to articulate Youthful idealism as well as the ideals and principles upon ,which the greatest nation on earth, USA, is grounded ! We are really ashamed that they are failing a simple test of their claims of intellectualism and scholarship! Let them not think that they can hide the moral decadence of the University system in Cameroon through useless propaganda and intimidation because we know the truth and we are spilling the beans to the world. The Students have rights and must be treated with respect and dignity in accordance with their common dreams and aspirations in life.

Political and Academic Leadership work hand-in-hand because in order for us to have good politics, we need good academics to educate and inspire citizens from all walks of life to be good and responsible citizens under a good political and academic system that respects the rule of law as well as uphold human rights and human dignity.Leadership be it in the political or academic cycle is about being wise and conscious about the rule of law and how that ought to guide, direct and assist the people/students to pursue their dreams and aspirations in life without fear of oppression ! If the University authorities want to show toughness, let them go and deal with North Korea or the Taliban and leave those harmless and armless students alone ! They have rights and those rights must be safeguarded under rain or sunshine

Since dictator Paul Biya and his cronies lack initiatives and are always idling except plundering the natural resources of the country into foreign countries, stealing and embezzling state and public funds meant for the people, ironically, they bask themselves under the idealism of students! One would expect the Cameroon authorities to be unsettled and take the concerns of students striking seriously but some of these corrupt men and women see this as an opportunity to display how tough and powerful they are to go after students !

I have to wonder if it is necessary for the normal leaders of a country to prove anything to their own citizens if their concerns are legitimate in the first place? A country's strength is usually measured by the wisdom and commonsense of the leaders in the face of domestic and foreign crisis to the extent, which the show of might is always the last resort when all other options have failed ! So, what is happening that these University students are never at ease with the University authorities and what is the Cameroon Presidency, Parliament and Religious authorities saying?

The Buea University crisis has been around for a very long time now and these crisis are always erupting like a volcano that cannot be contained/managed! The first time I tackled this issue was in 1999 when student's strike turned violent and caused the death of many innocent students. That gross violation of the civil and human rights of the students has never been aborted. Many families are still in this perpetual tormoil and suffering from mental and emotional pain as a result of the deaths of their love ones following different forms of violent crack down on Univeristy Students by the CPDM regime who remains intransigent in the face of the demands of students for their rights at the various Universities operated by the Government !

Ironically, some Cameroon-American citizens are right here in the United States enjoying the freedom inside the United States of America as students or Professors with their families but clearly supporting the wicked regime in Cameroon to crack down down students. These ungrateful Cameroon-American citizens have been trying in vain to manipulate the University Vice Chancellor charged with powers vested upon her to solve the problems of these students not to do what is right !

These individuals living within the USA and supporting a very bad political system run like a pig sty in Cameroon to continuously oppress malnourish innocent citizens especially students with mediocrity are on the wrongside of history! How absurd some of them have become to the extent, which they have lost their sense of humanity in face of the perils of others ! Yet, they brag about being in America and still cannot open their eyes to see and learn from this great nation as the beacon of hope and freedom for everyone !

How can they attempt to undermine the stupidity of the CPDM regime when it is obvious they have no knowledge and understanding of micro-management, conflict management, mediation and negotiation that can lead to finding common grounds in a diverse academic environment ? Who told them that dictatorship is a solution to human problems? What kind of leaders are these? What sort of Governors, Chancellors and Judges are these who cannot call a spade a spade and are always afraid of their dictator Paul Biya? Do they have to always sacrifice students on the altar of mediocrity in order to be promoted to higher corrupt positions ?

When will some of them learn how to live by principles guided by a conviction of our common humanity? If some of these militants and sympthizers of the CPDM regime working at the University or living free within the USA have a deep seated desire for promotion or positions from their superiors, whatever they are seeking for , please, they must separate their quest for promotions and positions from the authentic demands of the students worthy of their calling ! This tendency of acting to please the regime in power in order to be rewarded is unacceptable and must stop.

It is dangerous to live in a society where there is no potential for conflict. I can imagine one where people are simply dumb and dragged by the nose like a horse or pulled along with a rope like a dog ! But up till now, there is yet to be one because even the Taliban know that they cannot succeed in oppressing women and the girl child in their societies, which is why their own kind of conflict in their own society has taken an advanced form of violence and there is no way Taliban can win !

There is a natural phenomenon about human nature, which is the moment a human being begins to question laws, institutions and authorities, and the way certain things are done, it is one of those rare moments during ,which the signs for change flashes on the landscape of any archaic or totalitarian society ! Cameroon totalitarianism /dictatorship/corrupt tyranny is not an exception and must be a serious cause for concern for all of us normal human beings

I want to believe that to live in a world that is sometimes torn apart by conflicting and competing worldviews on one hand and on the other hand a world that is fused together by a gracious sense of oneness and beauty in diversity, it is obvious that disagreements that unfold will inadvertently result into some form of conflict or dispute ! When things really degenerate to the level where one party is not willing to negotiate through a third party known as the mediator, the next thing to worry about is who has the might to determine the outcome of the conflict or dispute in question!

There comes a point in time when some conflicts escalate into violence or warfare ! This is when, grievances have piled up inside disgruntled parties to the extent, which it reaches a breaking point where patience runs it course ! I am certain that society , especially one in which men and women as well as boys and girls are learned and educated know for a fact that by nature people do not rise up in protest or cry out loud against some form of injustice just to seek public attention!

There must be a laundry list of issues that are ignored by those who are supposed to handle them but chose to either turn a blind eye or acknowledged that there was or is a burning issue but lack the will and wisdom to solve the problem. Sometimes, people who have the hammer and nail tend to think that they can rough handled every other person who does not accept the sheepish compliance to their mediocrity by naughty hand clappers who stand by and applaud ineptitude and denial.

The truth is the CPDM regime is heavily represented at the State Universities in Cameroon and always ready to crush any student initiative geared toward seeking for good students services ! The students definitely lack services and there is hardly any serious commitment on the part of the University authorities to the growing concern of students with regards to the need for them to live and study in an environment where they feel safe and treated with respect and dignity

Yet, whenever University crisis erupt and of course always politically motivated, the CPDM regime pays their surrogates all over the world like Dr Emmanuel Konde, Jude Okafor and the entire CPDM-USA to defend the statusquo with an absurd distraction that focuses on whipping tribal and regional sentiments in a bit to downplay on the main objectives of the students, which is to ensure that their rights are protected under law to enable them study in an academic environment free from academic fraud, corruption, intimidation and gross violation of their human and civil rights.

No matter the determination of the regime to distract the civil society from the facts of this problem voices of reason and conscience are calling on members of the human community to support our call for the changes that students are seeking and most importantly, for the CPDM regime and the University authorities to stop toying with the future and destiny of the University students and their families.

In this light this is some good knowledge and information worth digesting and applying within the University system in Cameroon! The Buea State University and a college of Student Leaders and some members of the Civil Society could plan a working visit to some Universities within the United States to study how Student Governments, Student Affairs etc are operated in order to return to their country and implement what they have studied.

I don't get into a struggle to quarrel but primarily to find long lasting solutions to the problems that are in vogue ! What we the people and citizens of Cameroon want from now forward is the immediate release of Minang, the Student Union President of Buea University, parliament should meet and probe into the University crisis in Cameroon , which means a commission of inquiry is necessary and also the University officials must consider the introduction of the Division of Student Affairs at the University to be modeled or patterned after Albany State University, in Georgia,USA as seen below courtesy of Albany State University, Georgia , USA !

Subject: [camnetwork] The Post Newspaper wrote-Court Case Against UB Students Adjourned

By Basil K. Mbuye

The case against some 11 University of Buea, UB, students in the Buea Magistrate Court was, on April 4 adjourned to May 2, 2013.

During the hearing on April 4, that witnessed a huge turnout by UB students who jammed the court to support their schoolmates, two of the accused, Tabot Arreymanyo and Marcel Njonwe, were absent. The lawyer for the defendants, Barrister Nicholas Keme Ogbe, said Marcel Njonwe was sick and Arreymanyo had gone for the military training in Yaounde.

However, the Prosecutor, Barrister Gilbert Tangunyi Gwatt, argued that there was no medical certificate to justify that Marcel Njonwe was sick. He went further to say that, someone like Tabot Arreymanyo, who is accused of destroying public property, is not worth serving the public.

He demanded that an arrest warrant be issued for Arreymanyo and Marcel Njonwe. After deliberations, the court, with Magistrate Beatrice Nambangi Ntuba presiding, adjourned the case to May 2, 2013.

After the adjournment, the lead Defense Counsel, Barrister Nicholas Keme, , thanked the UB students who showed their support by coming to the hearing. He also compared the case between the students and UB to the biblical battle between David and Goliath. Speaking on behalf of his co-accused, George Egbereke thanked the faculty presidents and students for their support. He, however, said what they have been fighting for has not been given.

On his part, UBSU acting President, Ronald Minang, believed that the matter is a mere case of intimidation and called on all the students not to relent their efforts.

The ongoing are fallouts of a strike action the students commenced on February 6 which grounded lectures on campus and, as a result, the forces of law and order were called in. The students were arrested on campus at about 2.30 pm at the instance of UB authorities, for allegedly inciting violence on campus and then remanded them at the Buea Central Prison. They were later released on February 13, 2013 on bail.

LETTER OF PETITION AGAINST

ACTS OF TERRORISM, ABDUCTION AND TORTURE OF PRESIDENT OF UNIVERSITY OF BUEA STUDENT UNION (MR. MINANG)

(March 2013)

CONDEMNATION OF ACTS OF TERRORISM, ABDUCTION AND TORTURE OF UB STUDENTS.

I am a native of Cameroon currently resident in the United States of America. I write to express my horror and disgust at what the “Thugs of Buea,” who terrorized, abducted and tortured the University Of Buea Student President. This young Cameroonian was abducted, terrorized, tortured and laid to die in a banana plantation at Buea. Thanks to a good Samaritan native of Buea who found him and got him to the hospital.

In a report by Professor Yanou of UB, he asked, who would do this to this young Cameroonian? We condemn those who followed orders from elements in FAKO to eliminate this young Cameroonian. We condemn this act terrorism, abduction and torture of this young Cameroonian in the strongest terms and request that the Honorable Minister of Education look into this matter and question those who gave unorthodox orders to surrogates to commit this heinous crime against this young man.

How could they do this to this young Cameroonian simply because he and other students asked the VC of UB to organize elections to replace or maintain the status in quo of the student leadership at UB as well as provide resources to the student to facilitate learning at UB. Instead of looking into the matter, the university resorted, as we are told by the students to acts of intimidation, arrest followed by "unorthodox" acts of abduction, terrorism and torture of young student leaders by surrogates taking their command from leaders in Fako. To ensure that terrorist acts like this don't occur again at UB, we ask that the Minister should intervene and let peace reign at UB
